Darlene and I have never done network marketing prior to Max. I have been an entrepreneur my whole life, including 15 years in commercial construction. I was the owner of Bach Financial for the last three years and also part owner of two other businesses. I am also the COO of Celebration Covenant Church in Frisco.

We started on the product in January 2008, and started building the business on May 27th of last year when Steve Scott came to Frisco. What really excited us about Max is that the product really works! We have experienced great benefits from MaxGXL® and Max N-Fuze™. To say they have totally changed our lives, physically, would be a complete understatement. I exercise four times per week, golf, and generally have an excellent quality of life, and a little over a year ago I could barely get out of bed in the mornings! Another aspect of Max that we love is the authenticity of the leaders, specifically Steve. It really matters who is on the bus.

Our success secret isn’t unusual—it’s consistency! What Darlene and I do is talk to everyone about Max. We have a great product story and now we also have a great income story in a very down economy. We have personally recruited more than 75 people and we have done that by recruiting people every week and now some of those people have done the same thing and it has built a great team. Our income has more than replaced what we were making with our other businesses and it is growing every month (more than 5,300 right now) and is providing us a wonderful work-from-home lifestyle.

The best advice we could give someone new is “don’t quit.” The only way you can lose in Max, or any business for that matter, is by quitting. I tell people every week that if you just recruit two people a month over the next year or even two years you will be a huge success in this business. Also, take advantage of events. Max conventions and other events have energized our lives and business. We build our Max team from one event to the next. It really works!

Darlene and I have been married for 24 year, and we have been blessed with two wonderful children—Brittany, 21; and Garrett, 18.

I was first exposed to network marketing in 1992, and joined the industry the day my second son was born. I had always been a square peg in a round hole, and learned very early in my adult life that I was not cut out for a 9-5 job. I started a number of companies, and finally found a niche market.

But as I became more successful, I was spending more and more time away from home. Then to make matters worse, after a few years, I discovered that I was working very closely with some of the most toxic chemicals known to man. And so, once again, I started looking for something else to do. It was during that time of investigating the various options open to us that we discovered the network marketing industry, and the magical world of leveraging.

When I learned about Max in 2007, I was with another organization. Before I could ever change companies, there were three main areas I had to be satisfied about. As it happened, the Max 5-point presentation covered them perfectly.

First, a company is and can only be as good as its founders. If the owners don’t have integrity, if their intentions are not “right,” there is no foundation on which the structure of a company can be built for long-term success. Second, the product must deliver. It must do what is claimed it will do. Third, and from personal experience, I have found that all network marketing companies take care of the full-time Associates, and some take care of the part-time Associates, but no one seems to take care of the "Some Time" Associates. Max delivers on three of these, and the last one is a key component that will give Max stability to weather the normal growing pains to mature into a legacy company!

My involvement with network marketing is all about “Freedom of Choice.” Life is all about choices. Unfortunately for most people, they don't have access to as many choices as network marketer's do! We primarily do things because we want to, rather than have to. Max in particular offers people a viable CHOICE!

The reason I have that choice now goes back to the Founders’ experience. They shared hundreds of one-week samples of MaxGXL® with friends, neighbors, and anyone who wanted it, and a week later, the phone started to ring off the wall! If a one-week supply garnered enough attention from the “masses” that the founders would agree to pool their resources and put their reputations on the line, then I think that's good enough for a construction worker living on an island!

I therefore attribute much of my success to the genius of the Intro Pack. A brand new person doesn't have to be a product expert, just share the DVD and a week’s worth of product! What I have noticed as I travel around the country and ask the question, most people who decided to become Associates, and are excited about our opportunity usually noticed some kind of positive result within one week!

My wife and I had those results immediately. I was up quite late the day I first tried MaxGXL, but the next morning I jumped out of bed at 5 a.m. as if I had someplace to go! That day I had mental clarity that I had not experienced for a very long time. Concerned that I might have been experiencing a placebo effect, I asked my wife, Teresa, if she had noticed anything. When she relayed to me her day and her “noticeable” energy result, that’s all I needed! No one was more shocked than I was. NEVER had I experienced positive results so quickly! Within 24hrs we had “noticeable” results!

Another key to success is you have to be consistent. A regular pattern of activity will produce results in your Max business. Obviously the more you do, the quicker the results will come. It may sound simple, but after 17 years in this industry, I have seen this one principle ignored so often and watched good people walk away from an industry that absolutely had the potential to radically change their lifestyle. All because of lack of consistency!

My advice to someone joining Max is to seek out a success in their upline, and learn from someone that has a track record, or has the check to prove that he is where he is by doing what he is teaching he is doing, NOT what he is saying he is doing!

I also learned many years ago the power of events and conventions. They are the gas that gets poured on a fire. When a “new” Associate is exposed to the vibe of these events, it makes the decision to engage much easier. The benefits come on so many levels. There is energy, fun, excitement, credibility, examples of integrity. Many, if not all, of these things are missing in most people's lives today, mostly due to financial pressures, and stresses. I have found that the majority of people that attend the “main” events, such as the annual convention, stick out the day-to-day stuff a little longer. Sometimes, just hanging in there a little longer is all that is needed to hit the bull’s eye.

Teresa and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this year. We have four great kids— Ryan, 19; Randy, 17; Dusty, 15; and our daughter, TeLane, 10. The choices we have made are showing up in our kids, and I am proud of how our kids are turning out! My family is everything to me; it's why I do what I do! Max allows us choices, and life is ALL about choices!
